Our tutors can work with your child in any of their endeavors that employ reading and writing skills, including areas not usually offered as curricular subjects. Each special course is led by a tutor with expertise in that area. If your child is interested in something not listed here, please reach out, as we may be able to help.

GRAPHIC NOVELS

We tutor students in combining art, writing, and design in the making of graphic novels, a popular genre that many students are drawn to. Creating graphic novels also builds narrative and conceptual dexterity students will find useful in other venues.

What We Provide

Graphic Novels Tutoring

COURSE INCLUDES

  • Studying model graphic novels for craft techniques and immersion in how graphic novel masters make their words and pictures work together
  • Generating story ideas, and fleshing out plot
  • Storyboarding scenes and developing character arcs
  • Laying out pages and double-page spreads
  • Creating illustrations that bring characters, feelings and ideas to life and that communicate information not found in the writing
  • Writing dialogue, narration and setting descriptions economically so as to say a lot with just a few words
For Special Courses, we recommend hour-long sessions.
Students may want longer sessions when they have big projects or pressing deadlines.
